Although my husband and i are both Indigenous, I am "white-passing". (We joke about me working undercover). We live with similar situations as you and your readers describe. We still switch drivers at the US Canadian Border for this very reason. Because most of my siblings have darker skin colour, we've had a lot of practice through the years dealing with this crap and it hurts. I too am hopeful. Perhaps humanity will be struck colour blind?
